Splice How To
Splice How-To
This is a short How-To. For a longer
version, see Splice Mode
You may start a splice by
first completing the composite alignment process.
Then choose "Start Splice from the Process menu."
Move a whole core
You choose which core's to move to the splice canvas by
- Middle mouse clicking that core.
- Pressing the "Grab" button on this menu:

will move the
core to the splice window.
Move part of a core
Moving part of a core is a five step process.
- Select the "Selection" button in the Grab window.
- Activate the track you want a part of with a middle mouse click.
- Shift-left-mouse click on the starting point of the cut.
- Shift-right-mouse click on the ending point of the cut.
- Pressing the "Grab" button on this menu:

will move the
core to the splice window.
If this is the first grab you are moving, it will automatically
be loaded into the composite track. For second and subsequent grabs,
we will load the grab into the grab track.
The grab track must be empty for a move to be completed. If it is not
empty, a new grab will bring up an error box.
You can empty a grab track in one of three ways:
- Click on
.
- Complete a splice by pressing the middle mouse button,
and dragging it to the desired splice point, and releasing the middle
mouse button.
- Preforming a Cmd-Left Click on the grab track, and then pressing the delete button.
You can save your work at any time by saving the current session.
Then, by restoring your session at a later time, you can resume.
Completing a Splice
Once you have at least one core in the composite track, and one and only
one core in the grab track, you can complete the splice:
- Press the middle mouse button on a point where the grab and composite tracks overlap.
- While holding the mouse button done, drag it up and down (or left or right
in the horizontal case) while watching the Cross Correlation window.
- When the cross correlation peaks, you have a good splice point. Release the middle
mouse button.
When you are down, simple release the middle mouse button.
You will then be asked if you want to complete this splice.
If you answer yes, the portion of the grab track below the splice point is put into the corresponding portion of the composite track. (This will overwrite the bottom portion of the composite track.)
